The author asserts that the government must be ever vigilant not only in terms of terrorists threats but also in the more commonly encountered problems of mechanical and human error. Details of the economic impacts of the September 11, 2001 terrorists attacks are provided as are details of the Alaska Airlines Flight 261 crash involving a complexity of factors.
